I bought this table as it is a fine example of a Regency mahogany fold-over card table, with ebony stringing to the top and sabre legs.
It has an historical split on the top, but it is 200 years old! It also has a basket base (with centre finial missing, again don’t forget the age of it...) and very fine embossed ebony inlay to the frieze, which is only seen on fine furniture. There are very small brass patri to the ends of the feet, which for me, is a sign of real quality.
It has many uses: as a card table, put a small tablecloth on it when it's open and you have a dining table for four people, a small sofa table or a serving table.
As we say in the antique trade ‘it stands like a racehorse‘ and can you believe with all this history it's only £375!
